Andrée Putman began her career by working in the design and style departments of the French department store, Prisunic. In the 1980s, Putman produced furniture by great modern designers of the 1930s, bringing the likes of Eileen Gray, Jean-Michel Franck & Mario Fortuny to the attention of the general public.

In 1984, Putman introduced a modern vision for hotels by creating the first boutique hotel, Morgans, in New York. She also designed stores all over the world for the great names in fashion, hotels and restaurants, and offices for government ministers and captains of industry. Among her more recent designs are a champagne bucket for Veuve Clicquot and a reinterpretation of the legendary Steamer bag for Louis Vuitton. She also created the interior design Guerlain’s flagship store on the Champs-Elysées in Paris.

In 2007, Putman designed spectacular private homes in Brussels, Dublin, Miami, Paris, Rome, Shanghai and Tel Aviv. Always on the cutting edge of modernity, Putman also exported her unique style to Hong Kong, with two skyscrapers, one of them a 26-story residential hotel named after her: the Putman Hotel.
